RULES:
-This is a fun tournament. The “Fair Play” rule is in effect for the entire tournament. Coaches must ensure that all players are rotated equally for the entire game. Bench coach is to roll lines 3 players at a time. Position is not of any importance - so do not worry about trying to balance defense and forwards……it does not matter.
-The tournament will be a double-elimination format meaning that two losses and you’re out. The tournament schedule above shows how the tournament will proceed. Players have to be ready to go on the ice after each 20 minute game.
-Games will be of 20-minute duration with an approximate 5-minute break between games. Game play will consist of 3-on-3, run-time play, with 1-minute shift change buzzer and will be NON-CONTACT hockey. Touch-up offsides and icings will be observed. Attacking team must leave the defending zone for offsides, icing and goals to allow the defenders to carry the puck out. The puck will be LIVE at all times so it is important that shift changes are done as quickly as possible.
-Teams are required to have a minimum of 6 skaters and a goalie. If a team does not have 6 players, the tournament convener will designate a player from one of the other teams to play for the team that is short.
-Penalties: This tournament is meant to be fun for all involved. Although penalties are inevitable, minor penalties will be served by a penalty-shot with a chaser (offending player) while time continues to run. All major and/or suspendable offences will be observed, with suspensions being served in the next scheduled game(s). A player incurring a major penalty or otherwise being a nuisance, will be removed from the tournament. Body contact will be deemed a penalty.
-The Tournament Convener, whose decision shall be final, shall decide any items not covered in these rules.
NOTE 1: Second last game is typically considered to be the Championship Game and is allotted a 20-minute game time.
NOTE 2: If it is the first loss for the loser of second last game, last game must be played to determine the champion.
If it is the 2nd loss for the loser of second last game, a champion will be declared and the last game will not be played.
